OUR LADY OF THE MISSION

This is what I am working on now.  It's the first piece of art I have been serious about in almost 4 years.  Maybe my muse is trying to return.  This Mission Lady  is not finished.  I still have to add a veil, and complete the halo and some touch-up stuff. She might get some gold leaf.   She is much brighter than the faded look this picture shows.   If she turns out the way I am hoping, I will be donating this artwork to the Mission Cultural Center for Latino Arts in San Francisco.  This is for the "You Are Beautiful Exhibition" which runs from January 14 through February 25.

If anyone is interested in joining this exhibition,  let me know and I'll send you the information.   If your art sells, you'll receive 60%.  If it does not sell it could be installed in the streets of San Francisco, or you can have it returned to you. Deadline is Jan.6.

I am donating this artwork as part of a "pay it forward", which is another whole story for a later time.

Happy Holidays!

  7. Sandi, sorry I didnt get back to you sooner Just saw your comment. I shipped it wrapped in waxed paper (for moisture control), wrapped in newspaper, and into a large padded envelope. I also insured it and requested delivery confirmation; that way I can track it on line at the USPO site. Over 13 oz. so had to be upgraded to priority (USPO rules). Cost $8. xoxo

  9. Judie,
I love this painting. I have been thinking about you alot. And wanted to tell you i found the bracelet Aleta sent me. I never wore it because it had a Jesus fish on it. (I have a weird quirk about that) But then i found the bracelet and thought about the poem this braceelt was attached to 'Footprints in the Sand" and realized it doesn't matter who you believe in, whether it be God, Jesus,Mother Nature...its the believing part. I started wearing it, and then i found this new blog. You are loved my friend.
