Friday Haiku - Nature at Work

jasmine scents the air
white snowballs clinging to leaves
petals drop like flakes

DURING THE HUMID, SULTRY SUMMER DAYS
THE JASMINE BLOOMS, AND THE AIR IS HEAVY
WITH THE PERFUMED SCENT.
 TINY BEES FLIT ABOUT
SUCKING THE JUICES FROM THE
SNOWY-LIKE BLOOMS,
PURITY AT ITS FINEST.
MOTHER NATURE AT WORK AGAIN.

IN MY SMALL BACK YARD
THESE SNOWBALL FLOWERS BRING LOVE
AND NECTAR FOR BUTTERFLIES WHEN THE MILKWEED
FADES FROM THE INTENSE HEAT.

WITHIN THESE BRIGHT BERRIES ARE
TINY, TINY SEEDS, ONLY ONE IN EACH
BERRY,  FROM WHICH I HAVE
GROWN SIX MORE LAKEVIEW JASMINE TREES,
TWO ARE ALREADY HALF GROWN AND BLOOMING,
THREE MORE ARE BEING GENTLY TENDED
IN POTS ON THE BACK PORCH,
AND ONE I GAVE AWAY....FOOLISH ME...

I LOVE BEING SURROUNDED BY THIS
WARM SOUTHERN COMFORT.
