HAIKU
SUMMER HEAT
city sidewalks bake
a good rain would make them steam
the tears of the sun
ETHEREE
SUN
The
City
Sidewalks bake
In torrid sun
Bare feet burn and
hop
There is no relief
here
Even in shade of
buildings
Although distant
thunder rumbles
Clouds do not cover
the sun for long
We received a blessed bit of rain this more. Miracle.

DeleteIt's raining so hard here as I type these words with claps of thunder that has me quaking.
ReplyDeleteI like Annie, am in California and our hundred degree weather slid into cool temps and rain yesterday and a little today... wishes come true indeed! Love your line, "the tears of the sun."
ReplyDeleteI know. Most of the rainfall in Az. has been miles from here. Hope we all get a good old fashioned summer rain storm soon!
ReplyDeleteAs I've wished other times this summer, I wish that I could send our rain clouds out west to alleviate your drought. First time I've heard of an etheree- I'll google it soon.
ReplyDeleteThe sun's tears- unique image.
We had a few "droplets" tis all. :) Hi Judie. I keep getting confused and wondering who JC is and then I realize it's you.:) Hope all is well. Enjoyed your Haiku. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteWe are relieved from the summer heat. Weather is quite pleasant here. I like your etheree. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely haiku ~ can feel the summer heat with your words ~ they 'sizzle'.
ReplyDeleteHappy Weekend,
artmusedog and carol
It's going back and forth out here...hot one day, cooler the next but no rain in sight. We are soooo dry!
ReplyDeleteBaking sidewalks---I imagine they don't taste too good when finished!
