a sudden downpour
soaks the grass beneath bare feet
unexpectedly
heavy morning rain
silences sounds of birdsong
april babies wait
and through rich brown soil
seedlings pop their eager heads
petals unfolding
glorious color
ready for the bright sunshine
happy to greet may
pastel daisies
