COLORFUL PLAYMATES
FROLIC DEEP UNDER THE SEA
MARINE HABITAT
Coral reefs are hugely important for their plant and
animal biodiversity and are under threat of destruction.
Here are just a few ways you can help preserve these
essential ecosystems.
- Don't use chemically enhanced pesticides and fertilizers.
They end up in watersheds which drain to a common waterway,
and ultimately find their way to the ocean. Even if you do not
live near the water, it still goes into the ground and travels.
- Recycle - it helps keep trash out of our oceans and helps
protect the water quality of our rivers that feed into the sea
- Conserve water - the less you use, the less runoff and wastewater
to find its way back to the ocean.
- Be the eyes and ears of illegal dumping. Trash that finds it way
back to our oceans threaten the health of marine animals. Beverage
containers, plastic bags, six-pack rings all kill turtles and other marine
life.
- Spread the word.

artmusedog and carol
Our reefs are so precious. Love your little fish, I've done some scuba diving with them and they are pure joy, flitting through the water and darting in and out of coral. Some of my happiest memories are following them around. Thank you Judie for your lovely haiku and bringing awareness and caring of our oceans.
ReplyDeleteI love pastels. Wonderful haiku and painting. :)
