Grief and sadness: Grief is a complex emotion and just as all humans react differently when grieving, birds can also react differently. ... Birds have been documented as obviously looking for a lost mate or chick, however, and listless behaviors and drooped postures are common indicators of grieving birds. source: thespruce.com

I do so enjoy your haiku. Having had parakeets I know how sad it was for Jackie when his cage mate passed. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOh... to parakeet heaven... :( I like to think they will meet again one day.
ReplyDeleteDear Judie, I am so sorry to learn of Miss Blue flying off to other skies... how sad for all of you here, without her. I am so grateful for how you share your winged beauties with us all. They each have a place in my heart, as do you.
ReplyDeleteoh my friend...i feel for you and your sweet lonely parakeet. just to cheer you both up i am going to walk quietly to a bramble of honeysuckle where fledgling blue jays cozy up in their hidden nest and remind us that life moves forward with newness and promise! much love to you dear one. xo

Poor parakeet. I know at times like this I wish that we could communicate more clearly with our beloved animal companions. I wonder if it would help her to know that you are grieving too.
ReplyDeleteThe haiku is so sad... and your painting takes the heart and squeezes tears out of it. Poor birdie. I'm so sorry.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beatiful though so sad.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sunday Judie

Such a sad haiku in honour of that little bird, the painting is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteBoth your Haiku and painting reflect the sad time, and I agree with Carol … no matter the species, loss is still painful.
