a tiny brown bird
in bushes near my window
watching me watch him
There are times where life's unexpected issues are overwhelming and just to be able to sit and look into a wild bird's eye can bring a little bit of comfort, for that bird has probably seen some kind of tragedy or strife in its own life, and has conquered it. I draw peace from those knowing, watchful eyes.

Your haiku really resonates with me. I put up a lighted tree in the library and filled it with all our 'bird' ornaments. Not real Christmasy. I just needed some light and cheer. Little birdies are like that.
ReplyDeleteWonderful haiku. And, your added thoughts on this is a thought so many wouldn't dream of...and yet, we should.
ReplyDeleteNice, i am easily absorbed into this haiku

Is it good to be watched by a bird?
ReplyDeleteI heard today that a 20 minutes walk in nature/woods lowers down the blood pressure immediate... birds and nature heals indeed, lovely haiku! Enjoy your weekend, love from Holland!
ReplyDeleteLife is made of all those wonderful little moments that help us deal with the not-so great ones. And you always capture the lovely so well.
ReplyDeleteI like the image of the little brown bird people watching. And I am especially charmed by the power that moment of communion has.
ReplyDeleteHey Beautiful Soul! I love the image of you watching the little bird and it watching you! I love your art pieces!! Miss you! I will be posting on my blog soon, to let everyone know what is happening! Thanks for being a great friend! Big Hugs!
ReplyDeleteposted our friday haiku and not long after my mother in law fell and broke her hip. suddenly everything shifted to phone calls and long distant prayers of encouragement. she is 96 - made it through the surgery which in itself is a major hurdle at this age. the saddest is that no one-due to covid- can visit her! she of course is confused by this as she has a large loving family that is always by her side especially in crisis. today i am finally able to sit here in the haiku circle and enjoy the peace of each offering. thank you for your place in my heart and the kindness i feel in your presence. i share your love of birds and the joy and peace they bring to our hearts.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy watching birds, we have quite a few different types that visit the garden, I really should try and identify them ...
ReplyDeleteLovely words and sketch.
All the best Jan
There's something charming about being watched by winged creatures. (I'm probably thinking of angels.)
ReplyDeleteI lovel this post! A beautifully descriptive haiku and beautiful photo. I think I could visualize the bird without the photo! Very well said! Thank you!
