I was reading some Buson, trying to get inspired. He wrote:
"the camellia
it fell into the darkness
of the old well"
...And that inspired me to write my haiku
in a wishing well
i dropped a coin last monday
still waiting...waiting
I've been lax lately. Not writing much, painting very little, mostly thinking. And thinking more. The dead of summer is a waiting period, I think. Waiting for the heat to subside, waiting to see if that hurricane will come here, waiting for my internet to get fixed, waiting for the daily summer drenching storm to begin. Waiting for the day to end so I can sleep. Draining my incentive. And I think about wishing for life to be other than what it is, what it has become. I think that wishes don't come true.

Nice! Both yours and Buson's
ReplyDeleteHappy you dropped by my blog today
Much❤love
I am glad to find you here and that you took the energy to be with us. There is a lot of waiting going on... in cracks, in the every day... and then? Your haiku and question reminds me of one of my favorite poems by David Whyte, The Well of Grief. The last line says... nor find in the darkness glimmering the small round coins thrown by those who wished for something else....
ReplyDeleteNaturally, I enjoyed your Haiku. We always wish for more or something good to come our way. I love this.
ReplyDeleteAs for the heat, you got that right. It's been freaking HOT! And I know the wait for a TS or Hurricane is no fun!!!!
As for the lensball, yes it is the crystal orb. And yes it's used for photography. You shoot a photo looking through your camera into the ball and snap a photo. It's called refractive photography.
I guess you CAN use it to predict the future?!!!
Be safe.
Some of my wishes come true. Most do not.
ReplyDeleteLove your haiku - and throw no coins into wishing wells.
Summer is my least favourite season and I always wish for it to end. Which it does. Eventually.
I prefer your haiku over the Buson's one... just fabulous! Some of my wishes came true in 'another way than I imagined'... It's true what they say: look out what you wish for. Enjoy your weekend dear one, hug from the Netherlands.
ReplyDeleteWishes get answered when we least expect them ~ Lovely haiku you wrote ~ Xo

Some have. Some haven't. Some most certainly never will. But it still seems I'm disposed to wish for some things, though thank goodness I'm willing to do more than wish too.
ReplyDeleteI so understand that waiting... And don't know if wishes come true. But I am certain that we can work our wishes into reality.
ReplyDeleteSome have, some haven't ...
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your Haiku.
All the best Jan
More haven't than have!
ReplyDeleteLoved your Haiku.
Sometimes wishes take a long time to be fulfilled.
ReplyDeleteyes...the waiting and the wondering of dreams. lost and found. the way life plays out and the shadows and light that embrace us even when we are not looking. my world is a kinder place in any season-knowing you. xo
ReplyDeleteMy August has been like yours!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting question. I feel we have to keep going forth, learning and growing and loving all the way. I don't know if wishes come true, but I do know, we should always listen to our soul and go for it! Big Hugs!
