Come, let us fantasize a bit.
Leave this harried world behind for a moment or two.
Come to the past, the world of make-believe,
a 5/7/5 haiku and a short freeform poem will take you there.
linked this haiku Friday with
Rebecca's place of peace and haiku
colored lights gone dark
the actor sits abandoned
dust webs surround her
MARIONETTE DANCER
when she dressed
in the finest
of silks
and feathers
and the
tiniest red patent shoe
her flamboyant movements carefully calculated
the shiny fabric of her lovely dresses
catching the prismatic colors of the stage lighting
dancing in the magic land of Lilliput
her body moving in a quixotic way
whimsical, hypnotic
oboe tune
drifting
around her dancing self
adding to
her enchantment
or a
violin’s rushing strings
exciting
her movements
her limp
form curls upon itself
naked of
fabric
gathering
the dust of time
no more
delicate Madame Butterfly ballet steps
no movement
to delight an audience
tangled in
nearly invisible strings
she lives
motionless in a time forgotten
unloved
her kismet
encountered
Thanks so much for visiting

Nothing sadder than a sidelined actor...
ReplyDeleteMy goodness. This to say the least was an enthralling work. I felt elation as she danced and sadness now that she sits alone and left behind (not necessarily forgotten tho)
ReplyDeleteAn A+ writing!!!!
(Ps...would love to see your pigeons!!!)
Her tapping echoes... throughout time... Yes, Judie. The stage came alive for me right now! I can see her, in all her glory. I so love your drawing... thank you for this moment of imagination dear Judie!

Beautiful, sad, and painfully true.
ReplyDeleteYou brought the puppet back to life! Lovely haiku and poem. Have a nice weekend, love from Holland.
ReplyDeleteOne of the saddest things is to know what you were meant for, know what gives you joy, and be kept away from it.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your Haiku. Loved your art and enjoyed reading your poem.
ReplyDeleteHope you've had a good weekend, enjoy the new week.
All the best Jan
This is heartbreaking. Few things are as devastating as feeling like is no longer wanted, or has a purpose. No one should have to feel that way.
ReplyDeletegood morning and thank you for keeping the haiku fire burning while my life has been a dark mountain of loss and grief. i’m ready to sit quietly in this pre dawn and listen for each birds song. i’m ready to unbundle my bruised heart and sing. maybe this is truly being "awake"- thank you for the comfort of knowing you have stayed by my side even through the darkest night. xo
ReplyDeletewow, how did I miss this. Such a beautiful post. Love it.
